CDC, ESL stakeholders strengthen collaboration to boost education tourism in Clark

Providers and education-related locators of English as a Second Language (ESL) have agreed to collaborate with the Clark Development Corporation (CDC) on policy advocacy and destination marketing initiatives, to contribute in driving education tourism in Clark.

During a sectoral meeting held at the Clark Visitors Center, stakeholders cited long-stay students as high-value visitors that create spending across various areas including accommodations, transportation, food and beverage establishments, and tourist attractions.

In a statement, CDC highlighted that through a participatory approach, inputs from stakeholders will guide market development, international promotions, and student experience programs.

Survey data presented showed that most ESL institutions accommodate between 100 and 500 students per intake, with student stays ranging from one to six months.

South Korea remains the dominant source market for ESL students, while Taiwan, Japan, Vietnam, China, and countries in the Middle East were identified as priority growth areas.

Facilitated by CDC’s Tourism Promotions Division, the meeting also underscored support for stronger coordination within the industry while encouraging government engagement aimed at positioning Clark as one of the leading education tourism hubs in the country.

This is aligned with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s push to promote tourism, investment, and education, while creating economic opportunities for businesses in the country. (CLJD/AJRR, PIA Region 3-Pampanga)
