DepEd’s ‘Brigada Eskwela’ kicks-off in Pampanga

The Department of Education (DepEd) School Division of Pampanga kicked-off on Monday the weeklong “Brigada Eskwela” in the province’s different public schools.

This was announced by School Superintendent Leonardo ”Ding” Zapanta of the DepEd Division of Pampanga during a phone patch at “Pampanga Kaluguran Daka” aired over RW 95.1 FM every Tuesday and Friday, from 7 to 8 a.m.

According to Zapanta, the activity started with a flag ceremony attended by different organizations, government agencies, non-government organizations, and parents at San Pablo High School in Barangay San Pablo II, Lubao town.

He said that the materials and equipment they would utilize in the Brigada Eskwela came from the voluntary donations of the parents. They brought cleaning and decorating materials such as brooms, pails and dippers, paints, scissors and hammers.

The parents will paint the rooms, repair broken chairs and clean the surroundings, he said.

He added that the barangay officials donated school supplies for grade 1 and kinder pupils while the municipal police gave guidelines on what to do if earthquake occurs.

Asked if they will allow drug surrenderers to participate in the Brigada Eskwela, Zapanta said, “it’s okay that the drug surrenderers help in Brigada Eskwela, but the police should be on guard to ensure the safety of the children who joined”.

A total of 350,000 students from Kinder to Grade 12 are expected to enrol this school year in the province.

Enrolment is scheduled next week and the classes are set to begin on June 5.
