Mabalacat City holds sign language training

The city ​government ​of Mabalacat ​has conducted a three-day seminar on basic sign language on May 16-18 at Jade Hall, Xevera Lot Only.


The training was joined by some 50 members of the Mabalacat City Federation of Persons with Disability (MCFPWD) and was facilitated by Mabalacat Elementary School Special Education Teacher Gina Quiambao.

Persons with Disability Affairs Office Head Michael Miranda said the event is aimed at teaching the group on how to communicate with the hearing and speech impaired individuals.

“Of all PWDs, hearing and speech impaired la reng magkasakit makipagcommunicate. Through this training, makasadya tana pung makipagrelate karela para mas abye tamu ing kailangan dang serbisyu,” added Miranda.

As of May 2017, there are 171 hearing impaired out of 2,995 registered PWDs in the PDAO database.
