The City Government of San Fernando is one of the regional awardees of the 2016 Seal of Child-Friendly Local Governance for its initiatives aimed at promoting child rights to survival, development, protection and participation towards a “Child-Friendly Philippines: A Caring and Protective Society for, by, and with the Children.”
This award is conferred by the Regional Committee for the Welfare of Children led by the Department of Social Welfare and Development and Department of the Interior and Local Government.
During the flag raising ceremony on July 24, DSWDO Regional Director Gemma Gabuya presented the award to Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago, Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, Councilor BJ Lagman and CSWD Officer Iris Biliwang.
San Fernando is also vying for the Presidential Award for Child Friendly Municipalities and Cities to be conferred in July.
