Flag-carrier Philippine Airlines will finally receive its two Boeing 777 long-haul aircraft in December as part of its refleeting program.
PAL, Asia’s first commercial airline, has embarked on a $1 billion refleeting program that also saw the entry of the 86-seater Bombardier Q400 turbo propeller aircraft fortifying its inter-island flights.
Some of the Bombardier Q400s will conduct flights to and from the Clark International Airport and the rest of the country.
At least one Bombardier Q400 New Generation turbo propeller aircraft already arrived in the country after seven days after it left Canada for a seven-day flight. It will reportedly make an inaugural flight in Cebu City.
The first Q400 was received by PAL President and COO Jaime Bautista during simple turnover rites at the Bombardier Delivery Center last July 20.
The Boeing 777s will be used in PAL’s long-haul destinations.
The Boeing 777 is a long-range wide-body twin-engine jet aircraft with a typical seating capacity of 314 to 396 passengers. It has a range of 5,240 to 8,555 nautical miles (9,704 to 15,844 kms).
The “Triple Seven” was developed in consultation with eight major airlines.
