Seven firms want to develop Clark International Airport

ANGELES CITY – The Duterte administration is expected to break ground for the Clark International Airport Terminal 2 project that will increase passenger capacity to 8 million per year.

On Tuesday, three international companies and four local developers have signified their intentions to join the P12.5-billion Clark airport Phase 2 Expansion Project.

The Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) identified the seven firms as First Balfour Inc. – Datem and Megawide Group Co. Ltd.; R-II Builders Inc.; Tokwing Construction Corp.; and three foreign contractors mostly from China – China Harbour Engineering Co. Ltd., China State Construction Engineering Corp. and Qingjian Group Co. Ltd.

The bidding is set on October 23, 2017.

Clark’s Terminal 2 will also feature modern facilities as planned by the French firm Aeroports de Paris, who designed the airport expansion.

The Clark airport design will be done in phases. The airport is expected to handle 80 million passengers per annum in the Master Plan.

Terminal 2 is targeted to be operational by 2020, according to the BCDA.

There are currently 14 airlines now operating at the Clark airport. These are the Philippine Airlines, Air Asia, Asiana, Jinair, Cebu Pacific, Cathay Dragon, Emirates, Qatar, AirSwift, Tiger Air, Alphaland, Platinum Skies Aviation, and upcoming airlines, China Eastern and Jetstar Asia.
