GUIGUINTO, Bulacan – Police intelligence operatives rescued a Korean national who was allegedly abducted by suspected members of a Chinese gang in Malate, Manila and was brought to a place in Ilang-iIang Street in Bgy. Sta. Cruz Monday night.
Supt. Marlon Santos, chief of the Provincial Intelligence Branch and concurrent officer-in-charge of the Bulacan Police Provincial Office (BPPO) identified rescued victim as Yeum Sun Ki, 42, Korean national.
Santos said a still unidentied Chinese national was also rescued from the safehouse of the Chinese kidnappers.
In an intial report sent to Central Luzon police regional director Chief Supt. Amador Corpuz, Santos said the Embassy of the Republic of Korea received information that a Korean national was abducted by a group of Chinese in Malate, Manila and was later brought to a safehouse in Bgy. Sta. Cruz where he was detained.
Santos said the Korean embassy emailed the information to the Guiguinto police station which later sent intelligence operatives to the said location. He said the Guiguinto PNP Station also informed the PNP-Anti-Kidnapping Group.
He said that at around 8:30 on Monday night, one of the occupants of the alleged safehouse boarded a car and went out. Undercover policemen had arrested the suspect.
Santos said the suspect was taken into police custody while waiting for the team from PNP-AKG and representatives of the Korean Embassy.
He said when the intelligence team have confirmed the whereabout of the victim, the police operatives swooped down into the safehouse and safely rescued the victim and the unidentified Chinese national.
Five Chinese nationals, whose identities are still being verified, were arrested.
Santos said the Guiguinto police turned over the arrested suspects to the PNP-AKG team for further investigation while the kidnapped victims were safely turned over to representatives of the embassies.—EMIL G. GAM0S
