CSF culminates Women’s Month celebration with back-to-back seminars

In culmination of Women’s Month celebration in the City of San Fernando, two seminars were conducted Monday by the Local Government, through its Gender and Development Focal Point System and City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Fernandina Women’s Federations from 26 barangays of the city attended a seminar on Strengthening Families and Responsible Parenting. Among the topics discussed were the parents’ challenges caused by cultural and digital generation gaps.

The Bureau of Fire Protection also took part in giving an orientation on fire prevention tips especially at home.
GAD focal person Amalia Catacutan said the activity is part of the federation’s 5th General Assembly which is annually conducted during Women’s Month.

Meanwhile, a separate seminar on empowerment was also conducted in celebration of the 1st Women with Disabilities Day in the city.

With the theme “Babaeng may kapansanan sa Pagbabago manguna at manindigan ka,” some 90 Fernandinas with disabilities actively participated in a group discussion about overcoming life challenges and stories of success despite their physical or mental impairment.

In an interview, Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago said the local government seeks to address all issues affecting women in the society through the conduct of various activities and social services.

“We work to identify problems in order to create solutions that promote women empowerment and gender inclusion. We want to keep the society together because we believe that everyone serves as key drivers in social and economic development,” he added.
