Above the grey clouds and intermittent rains, the Angeles City Hall workers will have a reason to smile – the much vaunted Supplemental Budget No. 2 had been approved by the City Council.
Councilor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. said the City Council has approved Supplemental Budget No. 2 amounting to P153,482,282.79 during regular session on Tuesday granting the salary adjustments of the City Hall workers.
“Ito po ang kauna-unahang budget ng siyudad na hindi ko na masyadong bubusisihin dahil ang laman po nito ay ang matagal ng hinihintay ng ating mga city hall employees ang kanilang salary adjustments,” Lazatin said during the session.
Lazatin also clarified from the members of the Local Finance Committee if the 13th and 14th month pays of the City Hall employees are included in the Supplemental Budget No. 2?
City Accountant Wilfredo Tiotuico assured Lazatin that the 13th and 14th month pays are included.
On July 27, Lazatin filed a resolution asking Mayor Edgardo Pamintuan thru the Local Finance Committee on the status of the implementation of Executive Order 201 Series of 2016 signed by former President Benigno Aquino.
The Executive Order 201 provides for the modified salary schedule, including step increments for civilian personnel.
The resolution was held in abeyance by the members of the City Council Majority “since the Chief Executive will be submitting the Supplemental Budget No. 2 in a week’s time.”
Lazatin refiled the same resolution on August 15 since according to him Angeles City is the only local government unit in Pampanga to yet grant the adjustments.
After the regular session, the members of the Association of Government Employees for a New and Dynamic Angeles (AGENDA) cheered Lazatin for his effort.
“Salamat po ng marami, Councilor Pogi Lazatin mula sa aming mga kasapi ng Agenda,” said AGENDA in a facebook message to Lazatin.
Lazatin thanked Pamintuan also for his efforts in resolving the issue on salary adjustments.
