The 24.61-kilometer Arterial Plaridel Bypass Road Project traversing the towns of Bustos and San Rafael, both in Bulacan was opened to the public and motorists on Saturday, a week ahead of the original opening.

The bypass road was inaugurated last week by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

District Engineer Ruel Angeles of the Bulacan First District Engineering Office said the newly-constructed Phase 2 arterial bypass road with 10-kilometer stretch started in Bustos town and ended in Daang Maharlika Highway in San Rafael town.

Angeles said the bypass road connects the NLEX-Balagtas Exit up to San Rafael section of Daang Maharlik where motorists bound for Eastern Bulacan to Nueva Ecija and parts of Cagayan Valley may pass through.

The completion of the road section was inaugurated on April 30 by officials of the DPWH led by Secretary Mark Villar together with Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade with Japanese Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Keiichi Ishii who also led the groundbreaking rites of the bypass road widening project.

Angeles added the opening of said bypass road will ease the traffic congestion at the Manila North Road Highway former Mac Arthur Highway and Daang Maharlika Highway former Dona Remedios Trinidad Highway.

Engr. Angeles added the travel time consumption from NLEX Balagtas Exit to San Rafael town will take only in 30 to 45 minutes.
