ORANI, Bataan – Former provincial board member and veteran broadcaster, Rod Izon on Monday formed the United Bataan Tri-Media Association (United BATMAN).
Izon, anchorman and senior desk editor of ABS CBN’s DZMM (Patrol No. 12) thought it wise to form a new media group to awaken the media people’s interest in community journalism and inject a renewed enthusiasm and instill unity among media practitioners in the province.
He added that the local media practitioners in the progressive peninsula province must close ranks and exert effort to help one another in coming out with more developmental news stories in the national and provincial newspapers or radio-tv stations not to mention the common people’s dependence on social media for their daily dose of the latest news.
Among the media practitioners who joined the initial effort to organize the United Batman include Izon himself, Jun Bringula of DWIZ, Ernie Esconde (GMA7/PNA/Punto and Manila Times), Greg Refraccion (Phil. Daily Inquirer and Newshawk), Mhike Cigaral (DZXL/CLTV36, iOrbitNews), Roel Tarayao (TV5/DZME), Danny Cumilang (DZRH), Atoy Galicia (Bataan Defenders News), Butch Gunio (Manila Standard) and Jimmy Z. (PoweRadio 104.5FM).
The group’s first formal meeting was graced by Bataan Police Provincial Office provincial director, Senior Supt. Marcelo Dayag and businessman Ramon “Don Ramon” Hernandez held at the Macmamitam Restaurant here. –with report from Greg Refraccion
