DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – A premiere all male non-government organization from this first-class municipality has recently donated two bass ceiling fans worth P1 million to Saint John Parish Church here.
Former municipal councilor Noel “Bogart” Reyes said that their group- “The Untouchables Lion-Hearted Club of Dinalupihan” donated it for the churchgoers to beat the present summer heat inside the church.
“So far this ceiling fan project is one of our latest of projects accomplished. We have a lot from the list of proposed projects like bus shade, painting of school buildings, to name a few,” Reyes said in my interview with him from the United States via Messenger.
The project was initiated by the group’s President Ed Vitug and was voted unanimously by its members including those who are now U.S.-based members led by Reyes. Vitug donated P.5M while local residents and non-members here and abroad also contributed to the project.
The group was founded by a group of seven high school students way back in 1963 from Northern Bataan Institute (now the University of Nueva Caveres).
Later on, it was formed as a basketball team called “The Untouchables.” Since then and whenever there is a basketball league in town, Reyes said The Untouchables is the “team to beat.”
Presently, the group is now headed by Ed Vitug as President with Diko Dagun-Vice President, and Oman Labarentos-Treasurer.
In their USA Chapter, Noel Reyes serves as President, Lody Aquino-Vice President in San Diego County, Bong Hipolito-Vice President in Orange County area, and Ando Hocson as Treasurer.
The group has 37 active members in the U.S. and 64 members based in Dinalupihan.
As an NGO of Dinalupihan they also performed numerous philanthropic and humanitarian projects in the previous years like feeding program in various barangays (villages), supports DepEd’s Brigada Eskwela, and relief giving operations during typhoons.
Reyes added that this year, they will offer an scholarship program that will benefit qualified indigents.
