TARLAC CITY — A total of 125 rebel returnees participated this week in a Peace Summit hosted by the Armed Forces of the Philippines Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM).

The two-day summit, which carried the theme “Bukas Loob na Pagtanggap para sa Pagbabago”, aims to provide social protection and livelihood assistance for each returnee for a better life.

It featured moral recovery activities to help them with their spiritual and inner strength and dialogue highlighting insights and inspiration to continuously support peace initiatives.

NOLCOM Commander Lieutenant General Emmanuel Salamat stressed the importance of being open to embrace peace towards new life as a responsible citizen of the country.

“We want a peaceful alternative to resolve conflict. The Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program is designed to support rebels who want to be converted and become useful Filipino citizens,” Salamat said.

“With your support and cooperation, we can carry out this mission one step at a time and let us therefore make every effort helpful which will lead us to peace and mutual enlightenment,” he furthered.
