National Statistics Month highlights tourism growth in Bataan

BALANGA CITY — Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Bataan Provincial Statistical Office recently kicked off the 29th National Statistics Month highlighting research presentations on sustainable tourism development.

PSA Bataan Chief Statistical Specialist Ledesma Morante said this year’s celebration is focused on studies and statistics that will boost tourism in the country.

“We already have lined-up activities for this month-long celebration such as lectures on statistics and other activities focused on tourism growth,” Morante shared.

During the event, two researchers from Bataan Peninsula State University presented their recent findings relative in promoting and developing the tourism industry in the province.

Leslie Jorge discussed the competence of the tourism industry in her research paper titled “Benchmarking on Industry-based Competencies on the Perspective of Bachelor of Science in Tourism Management Graduates: Basis for Cirriculum Enhancement.”

Marianita Sarmiento, on the other hand, presented her study titled “A Perspective Assessment of Employability”, discussing salient points on the employability of tourism graduates in the province.

Representatives from the Philippine Ports Authority, Crown Royale Hotel, Provincial Planning and Development Office, Bataan Tourism Office, and other researchers from different institutions also joined the event.

This year’s National Statistics Month carries the theme “Exploring Philippine Wonders in Numbers: Statistics Towards Sustainable Tourism Development.”
