Widus Foundation Inc., (WFI) donated 105 chrome-type wheelchairs to the Pampanga Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) on Thursday, January 24, at the Benigno Aquino Hall, Pampanga Capitol.
The turnover, held during the first provincial Technical Assistance and Resource Augmentation (TARA) meeting, was led by WFI Executive Director Neki Liwanag and WFI Manager Ronnel Golimlim together with Head of Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office-Pampanga Elizabeth Baybayan.
Baybayan, who lauded WFI’s efforts, said that the wheelchairs will cater to 19 municipalities in Pampanga.
“This generous donation will greatly and directly improve the day-to-day lives of our PWD beneficiaries since most of them cannot afford a wheelchair of their own. We hope that WFI will continually support our PWDs and may this campaign inspire more corporations to imitate what Widus has been doing,” Baybayan furthered.
For her part, Liwanag said that the WFI Wheelchair Program is just an “initial project of Widus to enhance the quality of life of indigent people with physical disabilities”.
“This is just the beginning of our health advocacy programs. Our commitment to the PWD sector and the community will not end here as we have kept their best intentions in mind since day one,” Liwanag added.
To date, WFI has facilitated the distribution of 238 wheelchairs in Pampanga, 133 of which were given to AC PDAO, benefiting indigent PWDs in 33 barangays including three resettlement areas in Angeles City.
