PDEA eyes Clark office

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) is eyeing to put up an office inside Clark International Airport (CRK) to beef up its anti-illegal drugs campaign.

Pampanga Provincial Peace and Order Council and Anti-Drug Abuse Council Chairperson Governor Lilia Pineda said a resolution for the provision of a space inside CRK was approved and endorsed to the Department of Transportation.

“We have to be alert and vigilant in monitoring all possible entry points of illegal drugs. Here in Pampanga, we have to heighten our surveillance at the airport,” Pineda said.

Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) Officer-In-Charge Jaime Alberto Melo said prior to the approval of the resolution, he had initial talks with PDEA officials regarding the request and already proposed possible locations for the office.

“We are just awaiting the draft Memorandum of Agreement from PDEA. Rest assured that CIAC continues to be very supportive and cooperative with the PDEA for it to effectively fulfill its mandate,” Melo said.

PDEA Regional Director Gil Pabilona expressed hopes that the establishment of an office inside Clark will aid them in strengthening their operations to curb the proliferation of illegal drugs in the country.
