TARLAC CITY – Farmers from Victoria town in Tarlac town have openly endorsed the candidacy of Christian Yap for mayor during the awarding ceremony of irrigation pumps for the municipality held at the National Irrigation Administration compound in Matatalaib, Tarlac city recently.
The farmers’ association, cooperatives and irrigators of Victoria vowed to support all-out Yap, who is is the eldest son of Gov. Susan Yap and nephew of Tarlac second district Victor Yap. He is running under the political party Nationalist Peoples Coalition.
Speaking for the group, retired teacher Leonida Gacula of the Victoria SOA vegetable Growers Association said that all farmers, cooperatives and irrigator association are now in full support to the mayoral bid of Yap and said that this time, they are united in their stand to support his bid.
“We are now united in supporting Sir Christian’s bid for Victoria mayor. He will no doubt be the next mayor of Victoria,” Gacula said.
A total of 20 irrigation pumps were distributed under the auspices of the Tarlac-Zambales Irrigation Management Office.
The awarding was attended by Gov. Yap who said that the irrigation pumps will be a big boost to the farmer’s production.
“Utilize these pumps to the fullest as we await completion of the Balog-Balog Multi-Purpose Project, will make Tarlac” Yap said.
The governor came with Board Member Jude Joseph David, board member candidate former city Councilor Jelo Honrado and Provincial Agriculturist Alicia Cruz.
Christian, for his part, thanked the farmers, cooperatives and irrigators association for their support and vowed that he will continue his assistance to them win or lose.
“I am an advocate of farming and I believe that agriculture is the way to further boost the economy not only of Victoria but the province as well,” he said.
