The Pineda and Hizon political clans are slowly emerging as new political
dynasties in Pampanga province with unlimited resources to bankroll their grip to power.
At least four members of the Pineda family and three members of the Hizon
family have joined the political fray in the 2019 elections – each seeking
dominance in their own turf.
Vice Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda is currently running for Pampanga
governor while his mother Governor Lilia Pineda is seeking the vice
gubernatorial post.
Lubao Mayor Mylene Pineda Cayabyab is now running for board member of the Pampanga’s 2
nd District while Esmeralda Pineda is
running for Lubao mayor for the first time.
If Lubao town is to the Pinedas, then Bacolor town belongs to the Hizons.
The political chessgame established the political roots of the two families in the two towns.
Bacolor Mayor Jomar Hizon is currently eyeing the gubernatorial post leaving his comfort zone in Bacolor town; City of San Fernando Councilor Angie Hizon is running for Vice Mayor of San Fernando while younger brother Dereck Hizon is running for the Bacolor mayorship.
The gubernatorial race is the highly contested post that will pit Vice
Governor Pineda against Bacolor Mayor Hizon.
