LUBAO, Pampanga — House Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, during the celebration of her 72nd birthday on April 5, announced her plan to be a consultant for the province of Pampanga after her stint as 2nd district Representative expires on June 30, 2019.
Joined by husband Atty. Mike Arroyo and sons Datu and Mikey, Pampanga Governor Lilia Pineda, Vice Governor Dennis Pineda, 3rd District Rep. Aurelio Gonzales and 1st district Rep. Jonjon Lazatin and other local chief executives, Arroyo celebrated her natal day with an 8 am mass at the St. Augustine Church in San Nicolas 1st this town.
“Sinabi ni Governor Pineda na sabihin ko sa inyo na upang patuloy ko pa na matulungan ang Pampanga, ako ay magiging consultant ng probinsya,” Arroyo furthered.
The House Speaker, who is about to end her term as political servant, added that she wants to be remembered as a chief executive who restored the fiscal stability of the country.
“In my case, I don’t think I have a dramatic legacy as the other leaders in other countries. I like to think my legacy will settle around restoring our country’s fiscal stability after the storms of financial crisis here and abroad,” Arroyo stressed.
The restoration of fiscal stability, she added, started with building more and better infrastructure than ever before and reducing poverty level from 39 percent to 26 percent when she left the presidency.
Arroyo also thanked all the people who supported her through good and bad times.
“To all of you, thank you for coming today. Thank you for supporting our family and to everyone, to Pampanga and outside the province especially those who are with me in good times and bad times, thank you very much. Above all I thank the Good Lord for the opportunity to serve the Filipino people,” Arroyo ended.
Arroyo, before attending mass, attended the opening the 6th Lubao International Balloon and Music Festival in Pradera Verde, Lubao.
