LIFE is about choices. When one wishes for amenities, the search for alternatives is on. And there are a many to choose from.
And that is where Dalian Peak Hotel, the newest hotel on the block, comes in.
Dalian Peak Hotel is the brainchild of owner Andy Roque, a Filipino-Chinese who was born in Angeles City but after World War II, went to China where he lived for several years, Dalian Peak General Manager Cesar Reyes said.
Cesar said Andy also lived and worked for a while in Hong Kong. It was during his stays in China and Hong Kong where he saw the hotels and dreamt of having his own hotel someday.
Andy returned to the Philippines in his mid-teens where he worked and then went into several business ventures. He hit it big with the chicken business and gradually acquired properties in the city where he built apartments, the first of which were located in Barangay Cutcut in Angeles City where he resides.
All the while, he never forgot his dream of building and operating his own hotel.
Fast forward several years later. On a 450 square-meter lot at the old Sta. Maria I Subdivision in Barangay Balibago, Andy’s dream of having his own hotel was realized.
At nine stories high with 59 rooms, Dalian Peak Hotel opened on February 2018 and is one of the tall buildings rising in the Fields Avenue area.
Roque had help from Cesar, an awarded hotelier himself having been given the Kalakbay Award by no less than then President Fidel V. Ramos and the Department of Tourism (DOT) in 1997.
Cesar once worked at the Holiday Inn Resort Clark, Widus Hotel and Casino, had also worked with the airline AirAsia and helped establish several hotels in the Central Luzon area while doing consultancy for other hotels in other parts of the country.
Cesar points out that Dalian Peak is what he called “an alternative accommodation” facility that is affordable.
He said that though modestly, Dalian Peak contributes to the need for more rooms for tourists visiting the Metro Clark Area.
“There is a need for more rooms in the Metro Clark Area because Angeles City, the Clark Freeport and Subic combined has only about 12,000 rooms. With the Southeast Asian Games coming in November, tourists and visitors that might want to watch the games and media that will be covering will need accommodation. And this we can provide,” Cesar said.
He said their rates are reasonable as a Queen Deluxe Room featuring a queen-sized bed that’s good for two people costs only P2,800 per night; a Double Deluxe Room with two double beds good for four people costs P3,600; a Suite with a king-sized for two persons costs P4,700 per night; while the high-end Presidential Room with two double beds and is good for four persons cost P9,500 per night.
Cesar explained that their beds are chiropractic beds, carefully chosen to help their guests with back problems so they can sleep soundly and comfortably.
Aside from the reasonable prices, the hotel is really close to the famed Fields Avenue Walking Street with its variety of entertainment clubs and international restaurants as well as close to local and international brand fast food chains and a walking distance away from the SM CIty-Clark mall that can be seen from the hotel’s upper floors and rooftop.
“Dalian Peak is literally a stone’s throw away from whatever strikes the guests’ fancy,” Cesar said.
“We also offer have special promos that can be availed by potential customers. All they have to do is login to www.dalianpeakhotel.com.ph to get the information they need about the hotel, our rates and amenities and services we offer,” he added.
The cozy atmosphere at Dalian Peak makes one feel at home. Not too big, and not too small, with a courteous and professional staff. being situated in a subdivision, guests can sleep soundly with minimal disturbance from vehicular traffic.
The restaurant is cozy enough for guests to enjoy their food. Some food they feature are local food such as chicken sisig and another type of sisig made with chopped chicken innards which is a delicacy (pulutan) among drinking guests. They are also proud of their pata tim, a Filipino braised pork hock dish slow-cooked until very tender in soy sauce, black peppercorns, garlic, bay leaves, and star anise sweetened with muscovado sugar.
Among the Dalian Peak features is a Summit Glass Tower Function/ Training Room that can house 30 people; a function hall that can accommodate 80-100 people; and, breakout rooms, among others.
The hotel also features a rooftop swimming pool where people can appreciate a view of the Zambales Mountain Range to the west, Mount Arayat in the east and the skyline in the entertainment district of Balibago as well as the Clark Freeport Zone.
Since opening in February 2018, Cesar said they guests have included stduents and companies with team-building activities around the Angeles City or Pampanga area while other are participants of iconic events in Clark like the hot air balloon fiesta, and the annual Animo Fun Run, as well as the attractions in the areas around the hotel, particularly in the Clark Freeport Zone.
“We have guests from as far as Baguio City while some others come around from Bulacan,” Cesar said.
We had the chance to experience this just five days after the April 22 earthquake. We did not need to worry because the building was certified safe. And we loved our overnight stay there!
So when in Angeles City and looking for alternative accommodation, give the Dalian Peak Hotel a try. It is not hard to find because it can be seen from the main gate of the Clark Freeport Zone. (JOJO C. DUE)
