Modern PUV caravan kicks off at SM City Clark

A caravan promoting the public utility vehicle (PUV) modernization program of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) through the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) kicked off at SM City Clark on July 4.

The “Modern PUV Caravan,” which carries the theme, “Arangkada ng Pagbabago Tungo sa Kaunlaran,” brings together transportation officials and modern jeepney manufacturers and suppliers.

DOTr Undersecretary for Road Transport and Infrastructure Mark Richmund De Leon said the caravan is in line with the administration’s PUV Modernization Program.

He said the program aims to promote a reliable, safe, adequate, accessible, environment-friendly, efficient, and comfortable public transportation services.

LTFRB chairman Martin Delgra III, Office of Transportation Cooperatives officer-in-charge chairperson Medel Afalla, Land Transportation Office Assistant Secretary Edgar Galvante, Malabanias barangay chairman Rey Gueco and officials of Development Bank of the Philippines, Land Bank and Supermalls Transport Services Inc., officials  were also present during the caravan launching.

Meanwhile, SM City Clark mall manager Andrea Madlangbayan said they support the PUV modernization program by providing a venue for the caravan.

The Modern PUV Caravan program is a joint initiative of the DOTr, LTFRB, Office of Transport Cooperatives (OTC), Land Transportation Office (LTO), Development Bank of the Philippines (DBP), Landbank of the Philippines, PUV manufacturers and suppliers, and other stakeholders.
