During the flag raising rites on Monday at the Angeles City Hall, the young and affable Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. has warned anew that erring city hall workers including those at the Ospital ning Angeles (ONA) will be dealt with accordingly. The message was clear – shape or ship out.
Barely a week in office, Mayor Lazatin noticed that some of the city hall workers do not report on time. Thus, all employees will now be required to register in a facial recognition machine that will monitor daily attendance. The people will not be shortchanged of public services. The “No Lunch Policy” will be implemented.
Mayor Lazatin has also encouraged the city hall employees to maintain cleanliness at the city hall. He said the city hall will undergo the much-needed renovation.
Most of the city government vehicles and office equipment are not in good shape. The local chief executive urged city hall employees to maintain the vehicles and office equipment in good working condition until new ones come in.
Under Mayor Lazatin’s “One Strike Policy”, the days of erring city hall workers are numbered. There will be no shortcut to advancement in their respective careers or to the services at the City Hall.
Fixers will be dismissed from government service and these are those who are asking money for fixing permits, arranging discounts on real property taxes, fixing marriage licenses, annulments, adoptions and facilitating building permits.
Investigators and legal assistants will go after erring city hall employees in a bid to maintain transparency in the Lazatin administration. “I will strengthen the internal affairs division by hiring investigators and legal assistants that will be tasked to investigate these rotten eggs and I will make sure that they will not have a place in my administration or in any government agency,” said Lazatin. For all and sundry, Mayor Lazatin will continue the no-nonsense governance of his late father Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin.
