CITY OF SAN FERNANDO — At least 7,500 college students benefited from
the scholarship program of the Provincial Councilors League
(PCL)-Pampanga Chapter.
This was according to former PCL President Olga Frances “Fritzie”
David-Dizon, who is now board member of Pampanga’s Second District.
She was PCL president from 2016 to 2019.
Dizon said the scholarship program was made by possible through the
efforts of former Gov. Lilia Pineda and former Vice Gov. Dennis
Pineda. Dennis is now the governor, while Lilia is the vice governor.
Dizon said Dennis vowed to continue her project.
“I want to thank Governor Dennis Pineda for vowing to continue the
scholarships of those who haven’t finished their college courses yet,”
Dizon. “Special thanks to former Governor Lilia Pineda as well.”
Through the recommendation of town councilors, Dizon was able to
allocate 20 scholars per councilor. These scholars were given
financial assistance to keep up with the expenses of their studies.
Meanwhile, Dizon formally ended her term as PCL-Pampanga Chapter
president as she recently formally turned-over to new PCL president
Venancio “Asyong” Macapagal all pertinent documents, finances and
properties of the chapter.
Dizon formally turned over the reins of the chapter during simple
ceremonies here witnessed by Department of Interior and Local
Government (DILG) Pampanga director Myrvi Fabia and other officers of
the chapter.
The lady politician said that her term was able to provide a voice for
the local legislators to the provincial government.
Dizon, who served for three years, was able to bring in scholarships,
seminars and trainings, medical and financial assistance through local
legislators.
“The gains of the PCL in the past three years will not be the same
without the valuable support and commitment of these two great
leaders, alongside the steadfast cooperation and participation of our
other league officials and of our beloved councilors, in general,”
Dizon said.
The PCL was able to extend financial assistance to local lawmakers,
who were hospitalized, in varying amounts which reached a total of
P226, 000 to 16 beneficiaries as well as burial assistance amounting
to P20, 000 each.
Her stint was also able to provide free Korean language training to
some 120 beneficiaries in Sasmuan and Lubao towns. The trainees
underwent a free 20-day Korean language training. Dizon also hosted
two outreach programs to the Munting Tahanan nang Nazareth in
Mabalacat City and at the Tent City in Porac town. David also
facilitated seminars and training for local lawmakers to better
improve their skills and know-how in local legislation.
Dizon said that she wished the new PCL leadership would continue the
legacy of service of the chapter and promised to help in the chapter’s
endeavors in her own personal capacity.—30
