Orani, Bataan Mayor Efren ‘Bondjong’ Pascual Jr. on Monday ordered a temporary total ban on the entry of all pigs into the Municipality of Orani from any area outside Bataan for a period of 100 days to assure the town will not be affected by African Swine Fever (ASF).
Pascual, in issuing Executive Order (EO) No. 48, said the move is to ensure the safety of the consumers and pig industry, all concerned offices, and strengthen biosecurity, hygiene and sanitation standards in all registered meat establishments and public market in this municipality.
Furthermore, the said EO states that entry of inland moving cargoes of live pigs must be stopped at designated checkpoints. This should not enter the vicinity.
The order also covered seaport cargo at the Orani Fish port and within the coastal Barangays under the jurisdiction of the town.
“Non-compliant moving cargo shall be shipped back immediately to its port of origin at the expense of the shipper of origin,” the EO also states.
Although there are no ASF cases reported in the town, the EO will still be imposed.
