The Provincial Government of Pampanga aims to help micro-cooperatives to develop gender equality plans for their respective cooperatives.
This is the objective of the two-day mandatory Gender and Development Mainstreaming and Assessment Seminar for micro-cooperatives in the province held at Benigno Aquino Hall, Capitol Compound, City of San Fernando, according to the Provincial Cooperative and Entrepreneurial Development Office (PCEDO) headed by Luningning Vergara.
Moreover, the said seminar was jointly facilitated by the Provincial Cooperative Development Council (PCDC) headed by Second District Board Member Anthony Joseph Torres, PCEDO, and the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).
During the event, topics were discussed such as Gender Sensitivity, Concepts, and Issues; Household and Cooperatives; Understanding Gender Equality; GAD Mainstreaming in Cooperatives; CDA Memorandum Circular 2013-22; and GAD Planning and Formulation.
Furthermore, the Cooperative Month celebration will be held in October.
According to 2nd District Board Member Torres, the Coop Month will have a series of culminating activities.
Torres said the Provincial Government will be recognizing their contribution through the Galal Parangal to award outstanding cooperatives.
“We [Provincial Government] are willing to provide assistance to them [cooperatives] for their needs,” he said.
At the time of writing, Pampanga has 212 cooperatives with 50,000 members.
