AFP inaugurates new training facilities in Camp O’Donnell

CAPAS, Tarlac — Armed Forces of the Philippines Peacekeeping Operations Center (AFPPKOC) and Joint United States Military Assistance Group (JUSMAG-Philippines) inaugurated Thursday two new training facilities in Camp O’Donnell.

These include the Central Training Complex (CTC) and Mess Hall of Peacekeepers.

“The facilities are expected to help promote the accessibility, sufficiency and professionalism in the training of future peacekeepers,” Major General Andres Centino, who represented AFP Vice Chief of Staff Vice Admiral Gaudencio C. Collado, stressed.

CTC was named as Bulwagang Romulo in honor Carlos P. Romulo who served as President of the United Nations General Assembly.

It has an auditorium, classrooms, driving simulation room, language laboratory, officer and VIP lounge.

Mess Hall of the Peacekeepers, on the other hand, has a dining facility that can accommodate up to 400 students.

“The training facilities were funded by the United States government through the Global Peace Operations Initiative and JUSMAG-Philippines in support to AFPPKOC as a training institution for peacekeeping operations,” Centino disclosed.

AFPPKOC is the premier training institution of AFP for peacekeeping operations in support to its international commitments.

Currently, it is processing the training needs for deployment of 1 Force Headquarters Service Unit, 1 Aero-medical Team, 90 military observers/peacekeeping force staff officers and 1 demining unit.
