The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) and North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) said the new Tambubong Interchange in Bocaue, Bulacan is nearing completion.
Public works Secretary Mark Villar announced on Friday during the inspection of NLEX Harbor Link C3-R10 Section in Caloocan the southbound entry, northbound entry and exit toll plazas, being constructed at Barangay Tambubong in Bocaue town are expected to be fully completed this February 2020.
The NLEX Tambubong Entrance/Exit Project of DPWH Region 3 and NLEX Corporation involves the construction of three connecting ramps with 20 meters average width on NLEX northbound entry with a length of 180.00 meters, 240.14 meters northbound exit, and 290 meters southbound entry.
“The Tambubong NLEX entry/exit project funded in the amount of PHP79 Million will reduce travel time and facilitates the opening up of more business opportunities for the Bulakenyos,” Villar added.
NLEX Corp. President/ General Manager Luigi Bautista said, the project is expected to ease traffic congestion in Bocaue Toll Plaza in Barangay Turo scheduled to open next month together with the elevated expressway of 2.6-kilometer NLEX Harbor Link C3-R10 Section.
It was learned the Ciudad De Victoria Interchange Overpass bridge was earlier opened to the public last November during the grand opening of the South East Asian Games and it’s just a kilometer away from the Tambubong Interchange.
Bautista said, both Ciudad De Victoria and Tambubong Interchanges will serve as an alternate routes going to Sta Maria, Pandi and Norzagaray towns that will also connect to the Manila North Road, former Mac Arthur Highway passing Barangays of Taal, Caingin and Wakas in Bocaue.
Bocaue Mayor Joni Villanueva-Tugna said, the Tambubong Interchange will reduce the volume of vehicles coming from NLEX north and southbound exiting Bocaue Toll Plaza which will also open up more business opportunities particularly for the local government of Bocaue as well as in the province of Bulacan.
“It will serve definitely as an alternative access for motorists coming from NLEX going to Bocaue, Sta. Maria, Pandi, and Norzagaray and vice versa, bypassing the usual heavy traffic situation at Bocaue Interchange,” Mayor Tugna added.
Meanwhile, thousands of motorists coming from Bulacan and the other northern part of Luzon may soon experience reduced travel time from the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) to Port of Manila vice versa, DPWH said on Friday.
Sec. Villar and NLEX Corporation Chief Operating Officer (COO) Raul Ignacio inspected the progress of the ongoing construction of the 2.6-km NLEX Harbor Link (C-3R10 Section).
The Secretary said the daily 30,000 motorists mostly heavy trucks will pass in this elevated expressway that will decongest traffic along major roads in Metro Manila.
The Harbor Link (R10) Section, the elevated 2.6-kilometer section stretches west from the new Caloocan Interchange to Radial Road 10 in Navotas City.
An important feature of the project is a new off-ramp that will bring motorists directly from the NLEX to Dagat- Dagatan in Malabon City.
Motorists, especially those in the commercial trucking sector, will enjoy a hassle-free elevated expressway alternative to the choke points of EDSA Balintawak, A. Bonifacio and C3/5th Avenue.
It is also envisioned for truckers who will be spared from the truck ban and subsequently experience quicker turn around.
The Harbor Link project is a high impact PPP project that is seen to boost the productive capacity of the economy, create jobs, increase incomes, and help ease traffic congestion in Metro Manila.
“ We are on track to open the entire C3-R10 Section by next couple of months to help decongest major roads such along Edsa,” villar said.
With the full completion of the project, we expect to reduce travel time from Port Area to NLEX to just 10 minutes,” said Secretary Villar.
