500 Samal youths receive educational aid from LGU

Five hundred students from all villages or barangay of Samal, Bataan recently received educational aid from the local government under the leadership of first-termer Mayor Aida D. Macalinao.

Each college student received P2,500 pesos while P1,500 will be given to senior high school students on their graduation day.

In a simple ceremony held at the covered court of the temporary municipal grounds, Mayor Macalinao inspired the Samal youths the importance of having a good education towards reaching their dreams and ambitions.

“Yung buhay natin bilang mag-aaral ay hindi matatapos sa pagiging matalino lang. Dapat may diskarte rin tayo sa buhay at pinaka importante ay ang ating pagmamahal sa ating mga magulang,” the mayor stressed.

Macalinao also emphasized how she overcame all her struggles in life being a member of the LGBT community into being considered today as the “first transman mayor in the country.”

The chief executive also urged the students to help her in the “Yes to Cha Cha (character change) Campaign” in connection with the DILG’s Disiplina Muna National Advocacy.

Among the topics tackled by Mayor Macalinao on her 7AM or “Aksyon Milenyal” include: Teenage Pregnancy, Excessive Drinking, Illegal Drugs, Completion Rate, HIV/AIDS Awareness, Tobacco- Free Generation, and Personal Governance or Leadership.

Before finishing her message, Mayor Aida (as she is fondly called) confirmed that from 500 beneficiaries, she will raised it to 700 beneficiaries in the next distribution of educational aid for deserving students.
