MARIVELES, Bataan — Locators of the Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) pledged Tuesday to support industrial peace and partner with the government for economic progress.
During the launching of the Joint Industrial Peace Concerns Office (JIPCO) in Bataan, Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) Administrator Emmanuel Pineda urged key players to sustain peace and harmony in the industry.
“We should know the importance of what we are doing today and that is to be able to sustain the progress that we have achieved and further increase the quality of life of every Bataeño and other individuals working in the province,” Pineda said.
He also stressed that JIPCO is a win-win situation that will benefit the industries, labor sector and the government.
“With this proposed tripartite agreement, investors can make sure their workers are very productive, turnaround of their production shall be really rewarding and they will have security over their investments,” he said.
“On the other hand, workers can secure their employment status and their income for the welfare of their loved ones while on the part of the government, there is the attainment of our purpose to serve the people and to give what is due regarding to what is stated and set by the laws of society,” Pineda furthered.
For his part, Police Regional Director PBGen. Rhodel Sermonia said JIPCO is a community relations program that intends to insulate industrial zones from the nuisance of destructive and radical unionism perpetrated by front organizations of the Communist Party of the Philippines and New People’s Army (CPP-NPA).
“We’re here to answer the public’s clamor for everyone to work together to promote industrial peace so that each Filipino worker can have job security and their families happy,” he said.
Moreover, Sermonia clarified that their program is not anti-labor as labelled by communist groups from the time of its first launch last January 22.
“JIPCO is not an instrument of intimidation and repression of labor rights. Likewise, JIPCO is not beholden to the behest of big capitalist. JIPCO is for responsible unionism,” Central Luzon’s top cop explained.
Among the commitments of industry leaders is to resist all forms and schemes of the CPP-NPA infiltration operations in the labor sector.
