BALANGA CITY — Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) distributed 83 improvised face shields to frontliners in Bataan.
“Norman Buan, Senior TESD Specialist of TESDA Regional Training Center-Mariveles, initiated the idea of creating the improvised face shields made of empty water containers, insulation foam, rugby, garter and spray paint, while he was staying at home,” TESDA Provincial Director Julie Ann Banganan said.
Dubbed as “Iron Man” face shield, Banganan explained that the improvised equipment was inspired from a Marvel Studios film starred by Robert Downey Jr.
“He decided to paint the front using automotive spray paint in two different colors, gold and silver, to look like the face suit of Marvel Comics’ character Tony Stark or Iron Man,” she added.
About 77 face masked we already distributed to barangay officials and police officers in towns of Samal, Abucay, and in the city of Balanga, while six were handed to medical workers of Samal Rural Health Unit.
“In this time of crisis, where people need to be careful and cautious about their health, there are heroes out there who stand still, embrace their jobs wholeheartedly and bravely go to battle to fight the seemingly invisible foe, the Coronavirus Disease 2019 or COVID-19,” Banganan stressed.
