SM’s Kabalikat Sa Kabuhayan (KSK) farm school partner, St. Isidore Learning Center, led the UNIQLO Kalinga packs distribution of 300 food bags in Santa Ana, Pampanga to extend urgent relief assistance to displaced workers and families. To support communities in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, the relief packs included vegetables from small farmers supported by SM Foundation.
“By working together, we foster hope and show them that no adversity is insurmountable if we help each other. This we can do as we still continue to support the livelihood of vegetable growers in the province,” said Debbie Pe Sy, SM Foundation Executive Director.
The relief pack distribution in Santa Ana, Pampanga was undertaken with the help of SM’s Kabalikat Sa Kabuhayan, a sustainable agriculture training program started by SM Group founder, Mr. Henry Sy, Sr. in 2006, to uplift the living standards of Filipino farmers. This program is one of the pillars of the SM Foundation’s CSR Programs, helping over 26,000 local farmers to become self-sufficient by earning their living from the vegetables and fruits they produce.
In partnership with UNIQLO, the Kalinga relief food bags distribution in Pampanga is part of a series of relief efforts to provide over 6,700 Kalinga relief packs in distant barangays nationwide as the country continues to contain and overcome the COVID-19 crisis together.
