ANGELES CITY – The Angeles City Government, under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo ‘Pogi’ Lazatin Jr., simultaneously distributed 116,339 food packs to all families in the city’s 33 barangays.
The City Government carried out house-to-house distribution from April 1 to 9, 2020, where Public Utility Jeepneys were rented to deliver the food packs.
A total of 49,050 food packs were distributed last April 1, 2020; 21,199 on April 4; 1,530 on April 6; 19,232 on April 7; 11,942 on April 8; and 13,386 on April 9.
“Hindi po napapagod ang City Hall. Tuloy-tuloy pa rin po ang pagtulong natin,” Mayor Lazatin said.
Lazatin thanked the City Government employees for their service since day one of the community quarantine, particularly the staff of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), City Engineer’s Office, Command Center-Barangay Outreach Worker, Command Center-Angeles City Tourism Auxiliary (ACTA), Gender and Development (GAD) Office, Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (ACEDIPO), Mayor’s Office, City Information Office (CIO), and Environmental Management System (EMS).
“Sila po ang katulong natin sa pagre-repack ng mga food packs. They are working on a 24-hour shift daily, seven days a week. Maraming salamat sa kanilang walang kapagurang serbisyo,” he added.
Lazatin’s chief adviser, Director IC Calaguas, who conceptualized and organized the whole operation, also thanked all the City Hall employees for their hard work and dedication.
Calaguas also supervised the series of distributions together with Executive Assistant Reina Manuel, City Engineer Donato Dizon, City Social Welfare and Development Officer Joy Duaso, and other city employees in charge of preparing the food packs.
Lazatin ordered that an additional 120,000 food packs be prepared for distribution in the coming days.
