Bataan hospital treats cancer patients amid COVID-19 infected workers

BALANGA CITY — Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) continues to treat cancer patients amid coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infected healthcare employees.

Governor Albert Raymond Garcia said that despite having 55 healthcare workers who were infected with COVID-19, BGHMC continued the treatment on Tuesday of 10 children who need to undergo their chemotherapy.

“As suggested by BGHMC Chief Glory Baltazar, chemotherapy sessions were performed outside the hospital. Most Reverend Bishop Ruperto Santos of the Diocese of Balanga allowed them to use the Residencia Sacerdotal in Balanga City to help accommodate the kids,” Garcia stated.

This is in view of BGHMC being designated as an exclusive hospital for COVID-19 cases as decided by the Provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for COVID-19.

Moreover, Bataan Second District Representative Jose Enrique Garcia III provided support by assisting the patients and their guardians with transportation and meals.

Regular elderly patients who are also needing to undergo chemotherapy are scheduled next week.
