DINALUPIHAN, Bataan — A registered agricultural institution of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) donated fruits and vegetables to frontline workers in Dinalupihan, who are combating the spread of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
TESDA Provincial Director Julie Ann Banganan said that the D’ Planners Training Center Inc. based in the town has been distributing agricultural crops to frontliners since the Enhanced Community Quarantine was implemented.
“About 150 kilos of corns and 100 kilos of string beans were provided to frontliners, which were planted and harvested by TESDA scholars trained in Agricultural Crops Production NC II and NC III under the Training for Work Scholarship Program, and Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education program, respectively,” Banganan shared.
D’ Planners Assistant School Administrator Paula Alexis Fernando said farmers were also trained under the Kabalikat sa Kabuhayan (KSK) program of the SM Foundation.
“They have planted and harvested 200 kilos of patola, 210 kilos of eggplants, 60 kilos of ampalaya, 55 kilos of green chili and 580 kilos of cucumber for frontliners in Dinalupihan,” she said.
Department of Agriculture and Bureau of Fire Protection assisted in the distribution of crops to hospitals, marshals, churches, garbage collectors and other frontliners.
Moreover, families and relatives of TESDA scholars and KSK farmers also benefitted from the donations and were provided with other harvests.
TESDA, including its training centers in the province, is continuously providing food packs to frontline workers in other towns in Bataan.
Recently, about 150 packs of rice noodles, 100 pieces of pandesal and 50 bottles of mineral water were delivered to the rural health unit, marshals, street sweepers and 13 checkpoints in Orion town.
