Lieutenant Colonel Paul Gamido, City of San Fernando police chief, received on Wednesday the “Medalyon Ng Papuri” awarded to the city police station as a recognition for its solid efforts against illegal drugs amid the coronavirus crisis.
Police Brigadier General Rhodel Sermonia, Central Luzon police director, presided the command conference and giving of awards and recognition to deserving personnel of the Pampanga Police Provincial Office at PANA Hall, Camp Captain Julian Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga.
According to Gamido, the city police had successfully arrested 66 individuals involved in illegal drugs—the highest arrest in the province of Pampanga.
“Since March 17 na nag start ang ECQ [enhanced community quarantine] sa city hanggang ngayon, mayroon tayong nahuling 66 violators of RA [Republic Act] 9165. Tayo ang may pinakamaraming nahuli sa buong province,” the officer said.
Earlier, the police station conducted operation in Barangay Baliti where two personalities involved in illegal drugs were apprehended.
The arrested suspects will be facing chargers for violating RA 9165 Section 5 or the sale, trading, administration, dispensation, delivery, distribution and transportation of all kinds of dangerous drugs; and, Section 11 or the possession of illegal drugs.
Meanwhile, Gamido expressed his gratitude to the Police Regional Office as he vowed to further intensify the efforts and operations against illegal drugs.
“Unang-una nagpapasalamat ako sa Regional Director for recognizing the efforts of the San Fernano police station against illegal drugs. We also assure the Fernandinos na hindi namin titigilan ang paglaban sa illegal drugs kaya nananawagan ako sa mga Fernandino na sangkot pa rin sa iligal na droga na magbago na sila,” Gamido said.
For his part, Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago lauded the consistent efforts of the police station and promised them to give the necessary support to eradicate illegal drug operations in San Fernando.
