CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Police Regional Office 3 (PRO 3) recorded a 38.95 percent decrease in Central Luzon crime rate during the community quarantine period from March 17 to June 10.
The 7,887 crimes reported was significantly lower compared to the 12,918 crimes during the same period in 2019.
“This only goes to show that amidst the enormous tasks being performed by our personnel on the ground, we continue to level-up our anti-criminality measures particularly on our anti-drug campaign along with the continuous strengthening of our police community relations. There is indeed a relationship between the involvement of the community and crime reduction. Through our relentless community policing, there has been a notable crime reduction,” Police Regional Director PBGen. Rhodel Sermonia said.
“We will have no let-up on our crackdown on all forms of lawlessness amidst the lockdown as we continue to intensify our anti-criminality campaign thru our enhanced focused police operations,” he added.
From March 17 to June 10, a total of 2,000 persons were arrested for illegal drugs wherein 760,289.91 grams of shabu amounting to about PhP5.1 Billion and 2,051.72 grams of Marijuana approximately worth PhP153,000 were seized.
Moreover, 2,140 were apprehended for illegal gambling with PhP537,063 cash bets confiscated.
43 most wanted persons and 596 wanted persons regionwide were likewise arrested.
Resolution No. 41 of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases placed the provinces of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, Tarlac and Zambales as well as the cities of Angeles and Olongapo under General Community Quarantine from June 1-15.
