Cops with Covid-19 now 801

MANILA – The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported that 47 more police officers contracted the coronavirus disease (Covid-19), bringing the total number of cases among its ranks to 801.

As of Thursday evening, the PNP Health Service said the new cases are from the National Capital Region Police Office,19; Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 (Central Visayas), 13; Aviation Security Group (Avsegroup) eight; National Headquarters five; and PRO 4-A (Calabarazon) two.

Meanwhile, 386 patients have already recovered from the disease while the death toll stands at nine.

The PNP Health Service is also monitoring 653 probable cases and 1,241 suspected cases.

The PNP is currently waiting for the approval of the Department of Health regarding a suitable site for the proposed testing laboratory in Central Visayas.

PNP chief, Gen. Archie Gamboa mobilized the PNP Command Group to fast-track the construction of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) laboratory in Central Visayas.

On May 26, the PNP opened its first Covid-19 testing laboratory at Camp Crame in Quezon City. The facility is capable of conducting 150 tests per day. (PNA)
