CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga — Mabalacat City has not reported a new case of coronavirus disease (COVID) 19 for the past three weeks.
In today’s Network Briefing News with Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar, Mabalacat City Mayor Crisostomo Garbo said for almost two months now, the city had only few cases due to the intensified coordination with the barangay captains.
“We have strengthened our coordination at the barangay level and mandated them to consistently remind their constituents of the protocols that should be followed. We have also tightened our borders and strictly enforced checkpoints in order to prevent the entry and spread of the disease in the city,” Garbo said.
In addition, the local chief executive said that the intensified tracing, testing, and isolation of COVID-19 positive and suspect cases helped flatten the curve in the city.
Upon the city’s transition to the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MGCQ), the mayor assured that they will continuously inform Mabalaqueños, especially workers in Clark, to properly follow protocols such as wearing of face mask, social distancing, and handwashing.
“Every now and then, our Task Force on COVID-19 conducts monitoring of establishments and reminds operators especially the supermarkets to follow protocols on COVID-19 prevention,” Garbo said.
He added that disinfection of public places such as public markets and establishments is regularly conducted to maintain the city’s zero active case status.
The last active case in the city was reported on June 13.
To date, Mabalacat City had a total of nine COVID-19 case with nine recoveries and zero deaths.
