In celebration of the 82th National Book Week (NBW), the Angeles City Library and Information Center (ACLIC) is set hold a book fair on November 16-17, 2016 at Newpoint, Angeles City.
“Basically the Angeles City Library Book Fair is a pilot test for the City Library to organize a book fair outside the library premises bringing the activity closer the where people usually go, mall,” Librarian III/Head, Technical Services Roilingel Calilung said.
With the theme “Today’s Readers: Inclusivity in Diversity”, the book fair is one activity under a bigger program ‘READ! Angeles’ through the City Library’s Make Angeles a Reading City (MARC) advocacy.
READ! Angeles is patterned from READ! Singapore encouraging people to read, share the importance of reading, promote love for books and lifelong learning.
Invited exhibitors are Adarna House, Great Books Trading, New Century Books, Philippine Christian Bookstore, S&A Solutions, Learning is Fun, INDU, and more.
Aside from the book fair, activities set are awarding of winners of the NBW 2016 poster and essay writing contest in the regional level and opening of the Pampanga-wide essay writing and poster making contest.
Recently, the National Library of the Philippines, National Commission for Center and the Arts, National Committee on Library and Information Services and Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. conferred the plaque of recognition to the the Angeles City Library and Information Center as 2nd place on the Search for Outstanding Public Libraries with Special Programs on Culture and the Arts.
Calilung, also the head of Culture and Arts, extends his gratitude to City Library officer-in-charge Agnes L. Gomez, City Tourism Officer Richard Daenos, Joy Cruz and the rest of the tourism staff.
