BACOLOR, Pampanga – The provincial government led by Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda distributed financial aid to Capitol scholars under the Educational Financial Assistance Program (EFAP) on Monday, September 22.
During the distribution, at least 472 Capitol scholars received financial grants worth P 3,000. Of this figure, 133 are from Mabalacat City; 97- Magalang; 113- Sta. Ana, and 109 in Bacolor town.
Jasmine Cordero, officer in charge (OIC) of the provincial library said, the activity is a manifestation of the administration’s commitment to provide accessible education to Kapampangan students amid the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic.
According to Marlyn Rajencia, person with disability (PWD) from this town, the pandemic has brought severe effects to the contractual workers who work as part time, like her to sustain their studies.
“Napakahirap lang po kasi noong nagkaroon ng pandemic nawalan po ako ng trabaho sa part time job ko kaya sobrang laking tulong po itong ibinigay ni Governor Delta sa amin. Kahit may pandemya hindi po niya kami pinabayaan,” Rajencia said.
Despite her condition, Rajencia is optimistic that PWDs can succeed in life with proper determination and confidence in themselves.
Meanwhile, Bacolor Mayor Diman Datu hailed students who were born with impairment like Rajencia.
“Kayo po ang idolo at inspirasyon ng bawat estudyante sa aming mga nanunungkulan,” he said.
Datu also thanked the provincial government for its continuous support to his constituents.
Out of the 103 scholar beneficiaries from Bacolor town, six students are PWDs.
