ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. immediately ordered the release of P10,000 each to the victims of the fire in Barangay San Nicolas here.
Lazatin instructed the Local Finance Committee —composed of City Budget Office, City Treasurer’s Office and City Accounting Office — to immediately process the financial assistance which will be provided to the 30 families as well as to the business establishments affected by the fire.
“Maliit na halaga lamang po ito pero sana makatulong para makapagsimula ang mga kababayan natin,” Lazatin said. The fund for this initiative will be taken from the Office of the City Mayor’s regular budget.
The mayor also checked on the condition of fire victims soon as the Angeles City Bureau of Fire Protection declared it safe.
Despite the many challenges presented by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor Lazatin wants to ensure the safety and welfare of each Angeleños.
In fact, after news of the fire reached him, Mayor Lazatin sent the medical team of the Angeles Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (ACDRRMO) led by Rudy Simeon to check the residents of Barangay San Nicholas affected by the fire.
The day after of the tragic incident happened, the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) headed by Joy Duaso, distributed food assistance, hygiene kits, banigs, and blankets to the residents, upon the order of the city’s executive.
IC Calaguas, Lazatin’s Chief Adviser and Tactician Director, also coordinated with Business Permit and Licensing Division (BPLD) Chief Evangeline Malonzo to assist the businesses in claiming benefits from their fire insurance provider.
