ANGELES CITY – Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) Vice President for Operations IC Calaguas and Angeles City Government Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel on November 6 turned over P100,000 to the family of Baby Angel, the 4-year old girl from Barangay Sapangbato suffering from hydrocephalus.

A total of P34,000 was collected from the “live selling for a cause” held last October 24 via the Facebook page of Pepper’s Closet PH, where their pre-loved and brand new items were sold.

Beautéderm Corporation President and CEO Rei Anicoche-Tan even donated some of her products which were raffled off during the live selling.Meanwhile the remaining P66,000 was donated by private individuals including Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr., CIAC President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) General Aaron Aquino, City Councilor Atty. Alvin “Pogs” Suller, City Councilor Jay Sangil, City Nutrition Officer Donna Guanzon, Hygiene Officer Dr. Teresita Esguerra, City Budget Officer Corazon Ayson, Business Permit and Licensing Division Chief Evangeline Malonzo, Barangay Sto. Rosario Kagawad Joana Joy Flores, and several Angeleños who wish to remain anonymous.Calaguas, who is also the Chief Adviser and Tactician Director of Mayor Lazatin, said the total amount collected will be for the medical expenses of Baby Angel.Calaguas furthered that they have recently coordinated with surgeon Dr. Vic Lugue, and Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center Officer-In-Charge Dr. Froilan Canlas, for the other medical needs of Baby Angel. In addition, Manuel was awed at the number of people who came forward to help them in theire endeavor in raising money for Baby Angel’s treatment.

“Kindness is really all around us. We’re very thankful for all the people who gave their full support, despite the challenges presented by the pandemic,” Manuel said. The local executives, who are both Beautéderm ambassadresses, shared that this is the first time they have met Baby Angel and her family. It was during the celebration of the city government’s Indigenous People’s Month in Barangay Sapangbato when Gender and Development (GAD) Officer Mina Cabiles saw Baby Angel’s condition.

Upon meeting Baby Angel and her family, Cabiles immediately handed over milk assistance and told the local executives about Baby Angel.Baby Angel is one of the beneficiaries of Mayor Lazatin’s milk assistance to children, ages 2 to 6 years old.

Learning about Baby Angel has been the turning point for Calaguas and Manuel to organize the live selling for a cause.

Baby Angel is the second Angeleño child with hydrocephalus who received assistance from Manuel and Calaguas.

It can be recalled that back in July, Bella, the 7-year-old daughter of Manuel, sold her paintings at the One Town, One Product (OTOP) store of the city government, raising P28,500 for Baby Sean, an eight-year-old boy from Barangay Pulung Cacutud who is also suffering from hydrocephalus.

When asked if they plan on helping more kids with hydrocephalus, Calaguas said “hindi po kami magsasawang tumulong.”Manuel thanked everyone who contributed to the success of the live selling for a cause, and the private individuals who gave their donations.
