DOLE gives emergency jobs to 600 Bataan residents

About 600 residents of Pilar and Orion towns in Bataan benefitted from the emergency employment assistance of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) through its Tulong Pangkabuhayan sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.

DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III witnessed the payout wherein each beneficiary received P4,200 for working on various community projects for 10 days.

“The cash payouts you receive from DOLE under the TUPAD Program are your hard earned money and you do not owe any debt of gratitude from the government, as our President always says, we should always deliver these cash assistance to you because it’s the people’s money,” he emphasized.

Moreover, the cabinet official encouraged workers to get vaccinated as this is key in ending the COVID-19 pandemic.

TUPAD is DOLE’s flagship program that provides 10 to 30 days of employment to displaced, underemployed and seasonal workers.

The same program was reinvigorated through Republic Act 11494 otherwise known as Bayanihan to Recover as Once Act as one of the government’s responses to the devastating consequences of the pandemic, both to the economy and to Filipinos’ standard of living. (CLJD/CASB-PIA 3)
