Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Roger Mercado inspected the construction of a flyover along Friendship Circumferential Road in Angeles City.
This is a four-lane viaduct project implemented by Pampanga 3rd District Engineering Office.
He instructed the inclusion in the proposed 2023 budget the necessary funding allocation to complete the project.
“Decisions are best made if you really get to know and feel the situation in the field,” the cabinet official said.
Construction of the 700 meter-flyover including approaches will solve the bottleneck at the intersection of Porac-Angeles Road and Friendship Highway.
DPWH Regional Director Roseller Tolentino said this will reduce to 20 minutes the travel time from barangay Telabastagan in the City of San Fernando to Clark Freeport Zone via Friendship Highway.
Apart from this, Mercado inspected the construction of the Alternate Site Building within the DPWH Regional Office compound.
This six-storey modern office building project will serve as the new home of DPWH Regional Office 3 and possible extension office and command center of Central Office in case of a disaster.
The building has a total floor area of 27,600 square meters that can accommodate the specific office space requirements of Region 3 officials and employees including venue for learning and development programs.
Phase 1 amounting to P300 million from the 2020 General Appropriations Act (GAA) was completed on January 5, 2022 while Phase 2 costing P500 million under 2021 GAA is at 20 percent completion. (CLJD-PIA 3)
