The Commission on Elections (Comelec) partnered with SM Supermalls to utilize malls for the public demonstration of Vote Counting Machines (VCM).
All 78 Supermalls including SM City Tarlac, Pampanga, Clark, Olongapo and Cabanatuan will be utilized for voter education. A mock voting exercise is part of Comelec’s Voter Education Program which is meant to offer public experience on how to cast a vote during election.
VCMs are deployed in SM malls and mock ballots are available for mall goers to have a first-hand experience of using the machines.
The demonstration of the VCMs would take place during mall hours and would be available to everyone interested to participate.
The schedule for VCM demo in SM City Pampanga, SM City Clark, SM City Telabastagan and SM City San Fernando Downtown will run for 5 days from April 20-24, while SM City Tarlac, SM City Olongapo Downtown, SM City Olongapo Central will run for 3 days from April 22-24, and SM City Cabanatuan on April 23.
It can be recalled that SM Supermalls also partnered with Comelec by providing venue for voter’s registration. The partnership of Comelec and SM Supermalls started in 2014.
