DTI awards livelihood kits to micro enterprises in Camiling

TARLAC CITY — Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) distributed business kits to five sari-sari store owners from barangay Lasong in Camiling, Tarlac.

Under the Negosyo Serbisyo sa Barangay (NSB), DTI partners with local government units (LGUs) to encourage and help potential micro, small and medium entrepreneurs start their own businesses.

“NSB is a program of DTI that allows a wider reach of business development assistance by bringing government services closer to the people through partnership between LGUs. It aims to increase the awareness of barangay officials about services offered by DTI through the Negosyo Centers,” DTI OIC-Provincial Director Zaida Garibay explained.

She added that they coordinated with the Barangay Development Council (BDC) throughout the process of selecting, evaluating and awarding assistance to the beneficiaries.

For his part, Mayor Erlon Agustin encouraged the beneficiaries to enhance their businesses.

“This program of DTI is very much favorable. You were chosen because they saw your potential and with that we look forward to the growth of your business,” he added.

Recipients will be continually provided with basic business advisory or information dissemination services for their growth and development through the BDC and Negosyo Center.
