Now that the Chinese New Year is just around the corner, Park Inn by Radisson Clark is introducing its buffet offering that contains food items that will indeed, as Chinese beliefs hold, attract good fortune.
The Chinese believes that eating certain dishes and delicacies, especially during Chinese New Year, do more than just improve someone’s physical wellness.
In celebration of the Chinese New Year, HUES will be offering steamed dumplings (siomai) from its dim sum station. According to China Highlights, legend has it that the more dumplings eaten, the more money can be made. Besides siomai, there will also be man tao and wonton.
Another starter from the HUES buffet menu that is said to invite wealth is the spring roll including assorted cold cuts.
The Chinese New Year buffet at HUES would not be complete without a noodle dish that, to the Chinese, symbolizes happiness and long life. The stir-fried udon with shrimp will definitely do the trick. Other main entrées include Hainanese chicken and beef brisket stew.
Steamed Kailan (Chinese broccoli) with garlic oyster sauce will also be served, which leafy greens symbolize money and prosperity. On one hand, for guests who wish to take on a healthier alternative for meat, a Mapo Tofu is prepared for them.
Desserts bring sweetness for New Year revelers. And HUES got this food category covered for guests, as it will serve pomelo mango sago, almond lychee, fresh fruit slices and buchi. The pomelo is said to be a good fortune fruit, and buchi, a type of Chinese pastry made from glutinous rice flour, inspires togetherness in the family.
The HUES buffet will also have a soup station and a carving station, which will feature a Chinese-style Pork Asado.
The Chinese New Year buffet is offered at P799 nett per person. Kids aged 7 – 12 get 50 person off and kids 6 years old and below are free of charge. Dining is on January 28, from 6:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., at the HUES restaurant.
