Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) assured that prices of basic necessities and prime commodities in Central Luzon are within the suggested retail price (SRP).
As part of its mandate to promote consumer protection and welfare, DTI issues SRPs depending on the season and changes of the current situation.
DTI Region 3 Consumer Protection Division Chief Jerry Maglalang said they conduct weekly price monitoring to check compliance of establishments on the SRP of goods.
“As of September 30, we have covered 695 firms in our monitoring activities conducted and all of them are compliant. Also, there is a stable supply of goods in the region,” Maglalang disclosed.
Meanwhile, price freeze is currently implemented in areas under a State of Calamity due to the onslaught of Super Typhoon Karding.
It includes the whole of Nueva Ecija; Dingalan in Aurora; San Miguel in Bulacan; Macabebe and Candaba in Pampanga; and Concepcion in Tarlac.
