The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) threw a grand celebration as part of their 30th anniversary yesterday Nov. 24 at Subic Bay Freeport.
The various celebrations also coincided with Volunteer’s Day, which recognizes the sacrifice of 8,000 volunteers who served when SBMA was just established after the United States left their Naval Base in 1992.
The celebration started with the offering of flowers at the Volunteers Shrine led by SBMA Chairman and Administrator Rolen Paulino along with some agency officials and former volunteers.
This was followed by a ceremony in front of the SBMA administration building where outstanding employees of the agency were honored.
The aircraft static display at the Subic Bay International Airport was also opened to the public where the planes of the locators that use the said airport as well as the aircraft of the Philippine Navy were presented.
And the culminating activity was the lighting of the Christmas tree at the Boardwalk Activity Center which was attended by officials and residents of Olongapo, businessmen, as well as SBMA employees and workers from companies in the freeport zone.
