10 Bataan LGUs bag 2022 Seal of Good Local Governance

A total of 10 local government units (LGUs) in Bataan received the 2022 Seal of Local Good Governance (SGLG) from Department of the Interior and Local Government.

Recipients include the provincial government, city government of Balanga and municipal governments of Bagac, Dinalupihan, Hermosa, Morong, Orani, Orion, Pilar and Samal.

In his message, Governor Jose Enrique Garcia III emphasized the collective efforts and dedication of local government employees in achieving the SGLG.

“The provincial government has been awarded the SGLG for the 5th time and we will continue in providing excellent public service to all Bataeños, including the 11 municipalities and one city in the province,” Garcia said.

SGLG is an assessment system that gives recognition to LGUs which highlights their integrity and good performance through the 10 areas of governance.

The Province of Bataan received the highest percentage of LGU passers in Central Luzon, receiving a 76.92 percent score.

Awardees received the SGLG incentive fund which is a financial subsidy to qualified LGUs that shall be used for local priority projects or reforms that will help enhance transparency and accountability in all their transactions.

The fund also aims to intensify the preparedness of LGUs against disasters, cultivate the welfare of vulnerable sectors, ensure the delivery of quality health services, support the vision of quality education for all, promote peace and order, safeguard and preserve the integrity of the environment, boost economic development, foster the value of sustainable tourism and nurture culture and heritage, and stimulate meaningful participation in local governance.

Municipal SGLG awardees received P5 million while cities received P7 million and provincial governments got P9.5 million. (CLJD/CASB-PIA 3)
